What does the Exhibit Designer Do?

The contribution of the Exhibit Designer is complex and pervasive. In most conditions, it begins and continues almost to the end of production.

The first stage in the development of an Exhibition Show is to determine how much space is needed. What kind of space; indoor or out door, and how that space is to be utilized. The ideal circumstances, such analysis is based on definition of the Exhibitor’s Marketing goals. But of course, circumstances are not usually ideal. Most of the time the space has been selected well before the Exhibitor.

At this point, the Exhibit Designer begins to move from the freedom of the sketch pad to the restrictions of the “Blue Print”. The professional of Exhibit Designer should have to take into account the limitations and performed of actual construction.

The experiences of Exhibit Designer are really important. The Exhibit Designer who is not working or has never worked with a production house may pay “little attention” to the practicalities of turning a concept into a 3D actuality with the realities of materials and labors. The Exhibit Designer does not really often to get opportunity of seeing a design go through the production process.

It means, the Exhibit Designer must work at two levels;

  1. A knowledge of engineering is as important as artistic ability। This knowledge will determine the practically of the design, it can be efficiently installed and dismantled.
  2. A full analysis of many specific projects from the information provided by a single illustration, or even by many. Consider able background is required to determine from a photo, whether the display is structurally sound and practical.

It can certainly assume that Exhibit Designer were constructible, that whatever impossible ideas their may have dreamed into a sketch have been figured out somewhere along the development.

ExhiPAX, Exhibit Design Package Information

The exhibit industry can trace it roots to medieval world fair. Day by day, exhibition is a growing industry and one that is contantly changing. Ever since the earliest exchange of goods, business people of all types have been looking for a better way to market their products. Trade shows, as part of an overall marketing plan, have become a primary source of boosting sales and promoting a product or service. The exhibit at these shows are magnets that draw buyers to a particular company or item. The exhibit carries a company's message by its design displays, and graphics.

I have long held to the Exhibition Industry.... people eager to do something that will attract their client's attention and, hopefully make their company's goal.

For this reason, one of the most important things those of us in the industry have to do listen and learn to interpret what is that those in the marketing campaign, wheter internally or as a client, really want to do or accomplish. One of the key masters involved in that contribution is the "Exhibit Designer".

The Exhibit Designer,to be trully effective, must be involved in the formative stages of the project with knowledge of objectives, goals, budgets, and products. It is also imperative to allocate a reasonable share of the budget to design. Almost 10 percent of the total construction budget on a major project may be sufficient, although it may not be enough on a minor project.

Above all, in order to be a major contributor, the designer must be included in client presentations. Their design are to work the designer must have client reaction. This can not be accomplished if the designer is hidden in a back room when the client arrives for the presentation.

The bottom line is that the role of design inan exhibit is the role of the designer. Unless the designer is an itegral part of the team, the goals of the exhibitor may well fall short of the requirements.
